FROM MY ORIGINAL THREAD That mysteriously vanished with a host of others from OMT

dragthepaint wrote:
So a friend of mine picks up this truck (which I have seen on and around OMT). I don’t know the specifics of who did what to it; all I do know is I currently have it in my shop to clean up the garbage some of my fellow minitruckers produced..........I know its changed hands a few times so if the pictures look familiar and this is your work please feel free to jump on into the conversation.

Dear Previous Owner/Owners/Builder/Builders,
Your wiring skills single handedly demonstrate why people look at minitrucks and say they are all junk. The vomit pile of wires you zip tied together and looped under and around the truck is the #1 reason you should stop building minis and take wiring off your resume.

Your Laziness not only was limited just to the wiring but it also extended to the cutting of the e-brake lines. I mean I get it.......I too have cut e-brake lines for various reasons on a bagged vehicles (much like you main reason of my own; laziness to remove it properly). But damn, you could have at least cut them near the hub in hopes of making it less conspicuous. I almost forgot to mention cut the fukkin front half of the e-brake line off….its useless once its cut. That way you don’t have to waste .03 cents on 2 zip-ties to hold them to the cross-members and the various other points you attached it too along the way. Perhaps you planned to weld it back together at a later date? Feel free to explain.

One other burning question…. WTF did you use to chew through the rear of the cab wall for that custom driveshaft notch you so diligently took the 2 minutes to fab up? Please Choose Answer Below.
A. Harbor Freight Sawzall Blade after it was used to cut titanium.
B. Serrated Edge of Rambo Hunting Knife.
C. Broken Piece of Sidewalk Concrete.

More custom installs from the minitruck community,

Custom Zebra'd Kick Panel (Not too disappointing other than it was powered straight off alternator......Current Status=Terminated)
Image

BUDLIGHT Overflow; I mean damn, (Cutttttttttttt the damn ZIP TIE flush) at least position the label straight.
Image

And the creme dela creme.........
Image
Whats hiding under that Carpet Padding, You Ask?????
A Custom Expanding Foam Sealed Driveshaft Notch
Image
Image

Things I did (In under 10 minutes) that the previous owners should have.......Parking Brake Cable Leftovers Removed (1 minute, 23 Seconds).
Removed Wiper Squirter Hoses, Since there are NO Squirters or washer fluid tank/ pump (12seconds).
Shortened Vacuum Line that was snaked through engine bay that didnt attach to anything(1 minute 5 seconds).
Removed 32 Zipties securing Air lines and Air Horns (3 minutes give or take).
Shortened 2.5ft rear axle breather hose, it took longer to photograph than to actually fo the work (12.7 seconds).

Daily Driver, Daily Dragger, Beater with a Heater, Trailer Queen.....No matter what you call it take some pride in your vehicles especially if your gonna sell that garbage to someone else....

ON TO SOME PROGRESS:
New 4awg Wiring and Big 3 Upgrade to 0awg
Image
Image

Distribution Block and Stinger Relay Arrived, and I stripped the Zebra Hide of the Capacitor
Image

Start of Wall Mounted 12v Distribution Rack (future amp rack as well)

Not too much done today just some small air management stuff, Looking to have it back together by Saturday. I have to remove the rear cab wall panel and repaint it to match exterior...The Green I originally used just doesnt "work" for me.

Image

Temporary install until owner decides what to do with bed area. 4 Nuts and bolts and it all comes out as one unit.

Wrapping things up on Project "Pyle" for now, All I have left is......

1. Shimming and bolting the bed down, (the POO POO notch has givin rear frame healthy case of Saggy Ass). This will be fixed later down the road.

2. Put carpet and seat back in.

3. Re-Install electronics for power distribution and mounting rack on rear cab wall.

4. Change out the crusty Bud Light bottle overflow.

5. Paint tailgate to match truck.

Here are the some more pics......

I took a break to install my new trailer LED's

I like where that truck is heading with the military theme. Nice work but you should've used an old canteen for the overflow instead of a beer bottle Laughing

BTW, were you one of the guys that stopped at my house last year when I had my '63 GMC laid out in the driveway? The guy I talked to said he was with Area 51. I think he said his name was Lenny but I don't really remember for sure.

Thanks for the responses, I have been out of the country for a few weeks and just got back. I should have just a few more updates and this thing is going back home until this fall. Everything is back together and functioning just have to a couple little small things left for now.

Yeah I agree, I have been looking for military items I can use to replace a few different things....the problem is finding them around here cheap enough.

Wasn't me that stopped, but indeed Lenny knows me and has spent some time at 51 before.
